The Gang

The Saddlebags Adventures family is comprised of a great crew, both two and four legged, get to know us here and keep tabs on updates and new additions as they arrive.

We look forward to the moment you get to meet us all in person.

Ozzy (Need Sum Luck)

This photogenic super star is a real all rounder. She was bred for the race track where she did very well, then had a few years out as a broodmare; where she didn’t do quite as well! Ozzy loves her new life in the bush, she is unflappable with the wildlife and always keen to step out and see what each new day has in store.

Ace and Hector

Right from Hectors’ rescue from the streets as a puppy he and ace have been the best of friends, frequently chasing each other through the yard at high speed. Hector loves food and snuggles above all else and Ace is the most loyal dog we have.

Jamilla

This fiery red head is a Kenyan bred anglo-arab. She likes her personal space and is no snuggler, but on safari, she is one of a kind. She always looks after her rider and her smooth gait makes her a pleasure to ride.

Rufus

This stocky boy came up from South Africa, he is a boerperd X and he is as tough as you get. He is the most ridiculous and entertaining little horse, always the first to raid the picnic table, and mug you for a banana or two! His super laid-back attitude to everything has made him a yard favorite amongst guests.

Truffle

Truffle is a percheron X boerperd from South Africa. She came to us labeled a difficult horse, but with time it was clear she was just a sensitive lady with big opinions. She is brave, kind, and intelligent so she is set to become our next lead mare out on safari.

Woody (Woodlands)

A man of many talents woody had a successful racing career followed by an eventing career with Roanna. He loves plodding through the bush and is totally bombproof.

Doogal (The Goose)

Total yard clown, Doogal loves everyone and everything. He is forever happy, always has a stick close at hand and will leave a slobber patch on your trousers with every snuggle-you’ll learn to love it!

Pickle

A large Clydesdale X Friesian/boerperd mare originally from South Africa. She is currently working through some personal issues but we are confident she will soon be an amazing, fun safari horse. She loves food and will always accept a carrot or three!

Wilma

A very intelligent and incredibly opinionated red head, Wilma tried her hand at polo and decided she was not a fan so has ended up doing safaris. She now thinks safari life is great as long as she isn’t bossed around too much. She isn’t fazed by any animals and is a fun ride for anyone.

Ranger

Ranger is another boerperd X who was thankfully rescued from a slaughterhouse in South Africa. He is a sensitive boy but is a very fun ride and loves his new life. Before learning about carrots his favorite snack was bread, which he could sniff out at any breakfast table.

Kiwi

This special little pony had a difficult start to life but she’s just started her safari career and is loving it, she is ready and waiting at her stable door every morning hoping to get chosen for the ride. With her gentle nature, we think she will be a wonderful addition to the team.

Tazi (Mongoose)

Tazi went from being dumped on the side of the road to being yard manager, she keeps everyone in check and greets all our guests with a little howl. When she’s not hard at work keeping an eye on everyone she will be found fast asleep on the comfiest sofa or bed she can find.
